Alternatives to Plants vs Zombies 2?

I have been enjoying Plants v Zombies 2 but the ads are driving me insane especially since they have sound which I hate in a game. I would be happy to pay a one time or annual subscription fee to remove ads but Plants v Zombies 2 doesn’t have that option. There are a lot of alternatives but it is hard for me to tell which meet my below criteria. Any thoughts? [more inside]

妈妈去世爸爸很伤心怎么照顾Where would be a good place to hide a .jpg clue on the Web?

I'm making a virtual mini-escape adventure for my nephews as an Xmas present. I have a crossword puzzle they need to solve, but I would like to hide or put this puzzle somewhere on the Web. The plain way would be to put it on my Google drive and give them the link but what are some ideas for a more fun location?

Doctor Who New Years Party Ideas

In honour of the upcoming Doctor Who New Year's special, we will be having a party at home. Guest list: just our household: 2 adults and our two ten year-olds. Can you help us brainstorm fun decorations / costumes / food that would make this a festive evening? Right now we are staring at a menu of jelly babies, fish fingers and custard, and I'd love something.. more appealing. [more inside]

Help me Grok a Hockey Management Sim, as someone who DOesn't Know Hockey

Hi, AskMe. :) This is probably a weird question, but here goes… As a totally blind gamer one of the things I like to do is support companies which are producing accessible games, however inadvertently. Someone happened to mention that Franchise Hockey Manager, a game/series I know very little about, was rather accessible, and so I decided to purchase version 6, even though this kind of sports sim is fairly alien to me. I enjoy the challenge of learning about new game genres but know very little about hockey beyond the fact it's played on ice. I'd like to learn something about it, or at least enough to enjoy the game if I can. [more inside]

Can we make trivia into a side gig?

Since the first US lockdown, my husband and I have been hosting Bar Trivia via Zoom and quite frankly we're very good at it (both the questions and the MC-ing). We got our first request for a gig this evening, did it, and it went fantastic! So well, in fact, that I kinda want to monetize it now. Is this a thing we could do? How do we market this, and what problems am I not seeing? (We are in Pennsylvania US ) [more inside]

Is there any such thing as a "freeform" puzzle (or other tile placement)

While playing Carcassonne, we realized that just placing the tiles to create a map was a very satisfying, and relaxing, activity. Is there anything intended for this? Not a puzzle exactly, but a set of tiles or pieces that has some rules (in Carcassonne, tiles have to be placed so that, e.g., roads connect or city walls connect) but allows for more freeform assembly?
